Isaac's new friend

I've been handing this bear blanket to Isaac at night to hold when I read him a book. He absolutely loves it. He talks to it and hugs it. Soon I will start putting it in the crib with him so he has a lovey to help him sleep. Thanks to my co-worker Nina for the gift!

rolling over from back to tummy

This is funny because Isaac rolled over once about a month ago and hasn't really tried since. Two days ago he rolled over from his back to his tummy and then back to his back again. Now every time he is on his back he is trying to roll over. In his crib, on the changing table, on the floor he can't not roll over when given the opportunity. Yesterday I was in a Parent/Baby class and the instructor was doing baby yoga. During every activity Isaac just kept rolling over and I had to keep flipping him back over to do the poses. He is so proud of himself!

rolling over from tummy to back

Yes, when this video ends the crying began, he bumped this head! The first of many more to come I'm sure!

our little monkey loves his book about monkeys

Isaac got the book "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" by Dr. Suess from his Aunt Heather and Uncle Doug. We read to Isaac every night but the first time we read this book he was really focused on it and wanted to turn the pages. We still read it to him all of the time and he is much better at turning the pages! We think he loves monkeys!

Breakfast Cookies

Since I have been home everyday I have been in a breakfast slump. When I worked I would just force myself to eat something because I knew it was the last thing I was going to be able to eat until lunch. Now nothing sounds good. In high school and college I used to eat breakfast cookies that were manufactured in Bellingham. They sell them at Fred Meyer and Top Foods and are really delicious. However they are $2 a piece. So I decided to make my own. I found this recipe and it is really easy and super delicious. No sugar, butter, or flour. I had all of the ingredients already on hand except for these two things.

Blueberry Coconut Pecan Breakfast Cookies

1 1/2       cups gluten-free rolled oats
1             cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1             tablespoon golden flaxmeal
1/2          teaspoon salt
3/4          cups coarsely chopped pecans
1/2          cup dried blueberries
3             very ripe bananas, mashed
1/4          cup coconut oil, warm enough to be liquid
1             tablespoon agave nectar
1             teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350°. Combine oats, coconut, flaxmeal, salt, pecans, and blueberries. Stir in bananas, oil, agave nectar and vanilla until well combined.

Press 2 tablespoons of mixture into a 2 1/2-inch round cookie cutter onto a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Continue with remaining mixture.

Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until fragrant and golden. Cool on pan.
Yield: about 15 cookies.

baby i is 3 months....

Isaac is getting more and more fun everyday. Things he is doing: rolling over both tummy to back and back to tummy, grabbing toys, cooing and blowing bubbles, going to sleep for naps and bedtime by himself when I put him in the crib awake. He has so much personality already and smiles at everyone who holds him. We are so proud of our little guy and no more meds for his reflux!!!

Living Room before and after....

After almost a year in our new house we took the splurge on buying a sectional for our living room. I think being home way more with the baby really pushed this decision since we live on our couch now. It's a big commitment not only decorating wise but a big investment. Luckily we saw this couch at Macy's and fell in love with it. It is so comfortable being that it has down cushions and it is the perfect mix between modern and traditional. Right before making the splurge to buy it brand new we found it on craigslist only two years old and the exact same couch for 1/4 of the price. The room isn't 100% complete until we will eventually get a new coffee table (this one we stole from the family room) and will probably paint one accent wall white and add window treatments, but still what an improvement!

Let the projects begin

Spring is here and Peter is outside working! We are tearing out all of our grass (by hand) and will be re-seeding it. This is quite the project! Peter has also done tons of trimming of trees and pruning that everything is starting to come alive. I can't wait for better weather to start working out in the flower beds. I'm a fair weather gardener, luckily Peter is not! Next project the guest bathroom will keep you posted!

Leavenworth

Isaac and I took a day trip to Leavenworth with my friend Jenni and her sister. It was totally spur of the moment as she asked us to go that morning. Isaac was such a trooper being packed all around the shops and restaurants. He only cried once in the car, Jenni said it was because Beyonce was playing because he stopped crying when we turned her off. Sorry Isaac didn't know you didn't like Beyonce so much!

baby style

I had been eyeing these at Gap for awhile (there is something hard about spending money on baby shoes when they can't walk yet) but they are so cute. So when they got way marked down I couldn't resist.

my little bear

bedtime routine

Let the sleep training begin. I knee deep in books and information on getting Isaac to sleep all the way through the night. One thing that makes all of the difference is his nighttime routine. Every night we give him a bath and here I am reading him a book while listening to his favorite song "somewhere over the rainbow." How precious these times are!

non-traditional breakfast

Peter made this breakfast for me. He always takes a picture of the food he makes for me, I'm not sure why but this picture turned out so cool. Banana...poached egg....swedish cracker....peanut butter, the perfect protein packed breakfast.
