baby i is 4 months...

Not a huge change from 3 months except for grabbing his toes, grabbing everything that is front of him and trying to put it in his mouth. We went to his 4 month appointment and the Pediatrician said he is advanced, very strong, and that because he is such an alert baby that signifies intelligence. However his altertness also can make him overstimulated easy (which we figured out quickly from day one!). He is still in the 95% for height but 50% for weight. He is already doing the developmental milestones typical for 4-6 months so we will see what he does next. Maybe sitting up which I can't wait for! We are looking forward to the days he can be in a high chair next to us at the table instead of trying to grab our plates from our laps. We are so proud of our little (well not so little) guy he is such a sweet and funny baby.

hand knitted sweater

My friend Carmen's Mom made Isaac this sweater! How cute and thoughtful! She even got vintage buttons to sew on it. Also these are the exact colors of his nursery and Carmen claims she didn't even know. Thanks Pam, I can't wait for him to wear it!

mexican bowl

Cheap, Easy, and Healthy. This is a regular dinner that Peter and I love. I always have the ingredients on hand (except avocados). Beans and brown rice together make up a complete protein. Super Yummy!

new purpose for glassy babies

I'm not good about lighting candles unless we are having people over for dinner. So I thought I would put these glassy babies to use in my window sill. I planted some small sedums inside because they barely need watering.

yard progress

Usually I post befores and afters but this project is so much work I just have to post the progress. The grass is ripped out. Peter is putting in new drains. He ripped out all of the ivy under the trees and has trimmed up the trees and rhodies. Can't wait to get the grass planted and put in mulch. We also have future plans to put rock in the ditch.

yardwork

This is how we get yard work done these days

isaac gets invited to his first birthday party

Isaac got invited to his first birthday party for his friend Anika. Anika turned one and her dad works with Peter. The birthday party was a rubber ducky theme!

Great Grandma Jeanne

Isaac has a visit with his Great Grandma Jeanne. So nice to be able to record these memories.

isaac cheers on the Seattle Sounders

Peter got tickets from work for the Seattle Sounders game. At first we were a little reluctant as we have turned down other sporting events in the past due to the noise factor. The weather has been so nice lately and Isaac is such a trooper we thought we would give it a try. We bought baby ear protection just in case. Turns out typical Isaac style, he hated the headphones (I slipped them on while he was sleeping to help him stay asleep) and didn't mind the loud noise of the cheering during the game. He was so busy checking out all of the fans around him. The seats were in the club level which was great because the concessions are all heated and enclosed, super quiet, and there are family bathrooms. Overall a success, good job baby I!

rhubarb

This is one of the few edible things I have planted so far. I love the taste and have such fond memories of my Grandma Lund making strawberry rhubarb pie every year from rhubarb from her garden. I can't wait to try out some new rhubarb recipes!

Happy Easter

Every holiday is so fun when it is your baby's first! We went up to my parents for the weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather and family!

Blackened Chicken with Cilantro Lime Quinoa

I got this recipe off of Pinterest and it is hands down both Peter and I's favorite dinner I have ever made. It is so good and really easy to make, not to mention really healthy.

homemade chai tea concentrate

My friend Eileen gave me this idea from a blog she read. What makes it unique is the sweetened condensed milk. It adds the sweetness to the tea and also makes it creamy with just one scoop. This recipe is super easy to make and you can just throw a jar in the fridge and whip up a warm, spicy, and sweet drink. I call it Christmas in a cup. There are also the health benefits, Black tea is full of antioxidants, cinnamon boosts your metabolism, and ginger calms your stomach.

1 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. cardamom
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves

Mix together in a bowl and add to a jar, store in fridge. Brew a cup of black tea and add a spoonful of your concentrate.
