I used to despise Valentine's day as a teenager and young adult as the holiday seemed super cheesy. Once I got married I started to understand the holiday more but as it's two days after my birthday I always felt bad that Peter was on "double duty" which he is! So once we had Isaac, the holiday became more about the love we have for each other in our new role as parents as well as husband and wife. I also am trying to model this love for Isaac so he can start showing his appreciation for his Grandparents in his life. We don't have any family traditions as of yet but Juniper and Isaac and I started a couple weeks ago by making this banner. I'm so grateful for the gift of being a mother and this past year through many challenges I have become more grateful of the blessing of Isaac everyday. Isaac is at such an amazing age where he shows Peter and I so much love and our bond with him is so amazing. Both Peter and I are so grateful of the love we have from our parents and extended family. Keep posted for more of what we come up with in the next few weeks to show our love!!

toddler activity board
This project was inspired by Pinterest, well aren't most projects. I guess probably not but in my world they are. Emily and I had fun picking out the pieces at Home Depot with the babies, the husbands had fun making the boards, and the babies had fun playing together during all of it! I'm sure this board will evolve over time as there are more things we need to add. But it's a cheap project and baby approved!

teepee
This was Isaac's birthday present from Peter and I. It was a joint effort along with the help of my mother the actual seamstress and I am not good at sewing and almost insures a mental meltdown. I design and she implements. The perfect combination in my book. It was quite the evolution since I cut it out wrong and now has scalloped edges. It adds character and my favorite part is that it was made out of our wedding aisle runner. I hope this teepee gets many years of use outside and in.
Peter engineered the poles by drilling holes for the string. The genius part he figured out how to prevent the poles from slipping on our hardwoods by using balloons from Isaac's birthday party. Each leg is a different pop of color. An easy solution and it even looks cute that made me very happy!

The best part, Isaac's doggies and bears have a home.

fall leaves
When I describe this craft I say Isaac and I did it together. Well he helped me by trying to rip the leaves and eat the tiny clothes pins that attach the leaves to the string. Isaac has inspired me to decorate for the seasons because I want him to grow up being excited about the changing seasons and lets face it, Fall is the best. I got the leaves from the dollar store and can't believe how real they look. Overall this is barely a craft but I think it is just the beginning of more things to come hanging in our windows.

paper hydrangeas
My friend Emily saw this project on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to do. What I liked about it:
1. It's cheap
2. It's super easy (by easy I mean no fail)
3. It's cute
The 3 requirements for me to do a craft. I am a perfectionist with very little skill or patience when it comes to crafts. It's a bad combination. Our husbands watched the babies (well kinda) while we crafted away. When Emily had to nurse her daughter Juniper she made her husband step in and take over the flower making process. He could even do it! The paper we used were brown paper bags and I got sticks out of our yard. Here is the link to the craft tutorial. Overall a success!!

nursery banner
I just love this banner. It was made for my shower by Peter's cousin Anna. It matches the colors of the nursery perfectly. Peter is sad that the farm picture is temporarily on hold but our little active one was very close to having the picture knock of the wall and fall onto his little body while having his diaper changed. We look forward to finding a home for the picture in Isaac's little boy room someday. But for now the banner makes me smile every time I sit in the glider rocking Isaac to sleep.

My diaper bag Ali made
My friend Ali and her Mom sewed me this diaper bag. I picked out the fabric but love the pattern. It is really durable and has great pockets inside. Not to mention I can fit a ton of stuff of into it, which is what I need!

Christmas Tradition
This was Peter's idea and I just love it. This is the bottom cut from our Christmas trees the last 2 years. We are only 2 years into the tradition so we only have 2 to show but it will be fun as the collection grows over time. We have a new side table and we talked about needing coasters for it. I suggested after Christmas Peter cut coasters out of the stump of the tree. We will see as making them level seems easier said than done.
