I came across this brand when I was at Costco and they were selling their body/wash shampoo, which I bought and we absolutely love. They are a 100% chemical free line of baby/kid items and cleaning products. I went on their website and got a free trial of everything I could try. Of course I loved it all but had a hard time justifying the cost. My sister-in-law ordered a few cleaning products from them so I got a $25 credit. Then they sent me an email that if I buy a diaper/wipes bundle I get a whole month's worth of diapers and wipes for free, I was sold! So the box came in the mail and of course they are adorable and work really well. I haven't decided if this financially makes sense compared to Costco but for these two months it will be pretty fun! The body wash/shampoo smells amazing and works great as face wash and bubble bath for Isaac. I love that chemical free things for babies and kids are becoming more popular as this is very important to me, now I just hope with this popularity things can become more affordable! i built isaac a bed...
Ok with some major help from my friend Emily and Peter. We found plans on Ana White's website and it was not as difficult as it would seem but of course costs more than expected. Overall it was a fun project and I learned a lot! We used blue colored stain from Ikea and the bed still needs one more coat but we couldn't stand to go back to Ikea anytime soon, so it will have to wait! Plus when is anything 100% finished at our house anyways!

spring is here
I'm not even sure if spring is officially started yet but Isaac and I have deemed it here. The weather is warming up, we have breaks from the rain. Isaac has been waiting all winter long by pointing out the window and grunting on a daily basis to go outside. We try to every chance we can get and this day we got to try out a new trike I had picked up at a consignment sale. Even though he looks very serious and sad in these pictures don't be fooled he is having a good time!

first trip to dentist
Isaac had his first dentist appointment. We loved her. She is a Pediatric Dentist here in Woodinville so everything is kid friendly and she has a son two months older than Isaac so she "gets it." She was so good with Isaac and gave us her personal cell to call anytime if we had an emergency. Isaac did awesome letting her examine and brush his teeth. This was good for Peter and I to see as it had been an ongoing battle with Isaac letting us brush his teeth but for her he just laid back and let her do whatever without protest. Times have changed since I was a kid because they sent us home with a whole tube of Toms of Maine toothpaste. I was a happy camper because not only is it flouride free it is Xylitol free which I recently learned can upset their little tummies and is in most "natural" toothpastes. Something clicked in his little head since his appointment because now he wants to brush himself like a big boy. We have a little ritual morning and night where he stands by himself on the stool and brushes is own teeth (after mom brushes first of course) and then he brushes his own hair. He is getting so big and wants to be so independent and do it himself to by like mommy and daddy. This is probably the last "naked" picture we could get away with, I couldn't resist, Isaac I apologize for you in advance when you are 16.

toddler activity board
This project was inspired by Pinterest, well aren't most projects. I guess probably not but in my world they are. Emily and I had fun picking out the pieces at Home Depot with the babies, the husbands had fun making the boards, and the babies had fun playing together during all of it! I'm sure this board will evolve over time as there are more things we need to add. But it's a cheap project and baby approved!

fingerpainting
Peter went to a hockey game with some friends on a Friday night. My friend Jenni came over and I thought what a perfect opportunity to have a little fun. I taped out the word "Love" on Peter's recycled architectural drawings and let Isaac go to town. Isaac didn't have nearly as much fun as we did. He immediately put both of his paint filled hands in his mouth and did not appreciate the taste. From then he refused to touch the paint with any other part of his body than his feet. This made it a little slippery and caused a couple spills. The end result was cute and I think we will give him a couple more months and he may enjoy this process more.

life as we know it, being one
Our little boy is getting so big. Both Peter and I feel like Isaac never really wanted to be a baby and has found his true happiness being a toddler. He has arrived! Although he needs constant supervision, he's almost always getting into things with a smile on his face and I feel like I can finally just take a moment and "breathe". Parenting is so much easier with your first when you know the routine, you know that "yes' believe it or not they will eventually go to sleep, they will sleep throughout most the night, we can go on vacations (despite a total disruption in all things routine like), we don't have to medicate for teething anymore, and we can break the bedtime and nap schedule without hours of screaming as a result. Different challenges, Isaac needs an activity out of the house everyday and preferable with other children. He is a super social baby and people kind of stare at us when we say that. We have figured out he wants little to do with adults, but you put another baby his age or slightly older and he will hug them and play for hours!! Food needs to always be on hand and there is no such thing as going more than 2 hours without a bottle or full meal, no snacking for this boy.
Things that are new: he likes to brush his teeth himself. We got him a cheap-o electric so we feel better about what is getting accomplished in there. He insists on feeding himself with a spoon or fork even though he doesn't really have the skills to do so. He likes to follow behind me when I sweep or vacuum and copy what I'm doing with his push toy. He started signing, more, all done, and bath. He is starting to talk but really can only get the first sound out of each word. First one was "birds" as he points to the bird mobile above his bed. He says, hot, more, mama, dada, mine, and ball. He continues to crave being outside and so both of us can't wait for spring to come.
The pictures are becoming fewer and less of the posed nature. He is either a blur on camera (due to constant movement) or the shot is over as once he sees the iphone or camera its a mad dash straight for it.
We are so grateful for the joy he brings to our lives and he makes everyday so special! Words can't describe the love we both share for him and the love he gives us back through big squeezes and wet kisses.

10 month photo shoot
As always great pictures taken by my friend Carmen. We did this shoot at Discovery Park in Magnolia and I love them all. With age the pictures of Isaac just get funnier and funnier. Of course he just started walking so he kept taking off from the shot! It was really cold and Isaac's face kept getting redder and redder and then he go more and more unhappy :) So great to have these memories, we are so lucky to have Carmen!

brown bear first birthday

Baby I is ONE! We had family and close friends with baby's Isaac's age come over to celebrate. Isaac loved having people over and was going...going all afternoon he skipped his nap completely and was happy as a clam. He got spoiled with presents and ate two whole pieces of cake. He didn't make much of a mess, I think he was making sure it all got in his mouth! He loves his new toys!
