isaac and alec

Say that 20 times! Isaac playing with his cousin Alec who is 2 months younger. We had to give Isaac something to chew on so he would stop trying to grab Alec's ear or face. Alec handled it well. Isaac is extremely interested in kids and especially babies. He can't resist touching them and staring intently at them!

nursery banner

I just love this banner. It was made for my shower by Peter's cousin Anna. It matches the colors of the nursery perfectly. Peter is sad that the farm picture is temporarily on hold but our little active one was very close to having the picture knock of the wall and fall onto his little body while having his diaper changed. We look forward to finding a home for the picture in Isaac's little boy room someday. But for now the banner makes me smile every time I sit in the glider rocking Isaac to sleep.

little bear is 6 months

For some reason 6 months seems like a huge milestone. Maybe because it has been half a year since our lives changed forever. Also maybe it's because 6 months Isaac has become way easier and even more fun! Like fore example while I was taking this picture, I thought ok buddy what are you going to come up with this time. Last month he had his leg in the air. Well this time he didn't disappoint he spent the entire time in chair rocking back and forth without holding on. It was funny/scary because an any given time he could face plant off the chair. On his 6 month marker Isaac is eating solids in his high chair. We aren't doing pureed food he is just eating regular food and he loves being a big boy. He's eaten (and by eaten I mean fed himself and maybe swallowed a few bites) apple slices, avocado, green beans, pear, asparagus, chicken, barley, peaches, blueberries, and black beans. We haven't had his 6 month check up yet but he was 17lbs. about a month ago so we are thinking he is around 18 lbs. now. Things he is doing: sat up in his crib from laying down with one arm swaddled (not sure how he did it). He is trying to crawl but for now just gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth and can go in a circle and backwards. For now I am enjoying the 20 minutes he will sit on the floor playing with toys happily and not be able to go anywhere! I'm sure it won't last long! At the very beginning of 5 months he got his first two teeth! I was looking forward to a break from teething and then about a week ago he got two more on top. Can't wait to see what's next!

yard work

I always want to wait and post our progress until we have the before/after. However I have finally come to terms that the yard work progress will never be "after". So here is the progress. I will start with before. This was a 3 month process and a ton of work to plant new grass, but I'm sure it will be worth it when we can get out and enjoy it once we finally get nice weather! I can just see Isaac running around in the grass.

Before:
Current:
This part has a lot of work left to do. Still to come....more dirt, grass, raised beds for a garden, and a cedar farm fence along the front, large rock in the ditch! Can't wait!

father's day

This was one of Peter's father's day presents from Isaac. I accidentally broke the glass while putting it together, took a deep breath and wrapped it anyways. Its so funny because Isaac doesn't have the happiest of faces in two of the pictures. But I had to use them because after the first picture I took the sign was crumpled. I think it will be fun to take the same picture of him in the same chair 10 years from now to give to Peter.

new picture

Peter discovered this painting in a furniture store in Walla Walla this past weekend. He fell in love with it right away and I am a sucker for any farm picture. We both knew instantly where it needed to go in our living room. When we got home we were so excited to hang it. When we hung it we both realized right away how awful it looked with the color of our living room. The current color of the living room was the original color when we moved in. We didn't hate it enough to paint it and decided other rooms in the house took precedent. So on Memorial Day we impulsively went to Benjamin Moore bought bright white paint to match the trim. It makes the picture pop and also makes the room so much brighter. If you know me at all you know I'm a sucker for white so we are starting a trend with our white wall, white entertainment center, and white rug. I almost think white looks better when most everything else is white with a few pops of color here and there. It's the Scandi in me!

walla walla

Memorial weekend we drove east of the mountains in search of sun. We found it, spent time with Peter's family, and discovered a great town called Walla Walla. I daydreamed about moving there and Peter talked about us starting our organic farm. Overall a great weekend. Isaac had a couple of firsts. First time interacting with a cat, it was a neutral reaction and also the first time swimming. He swam in his grandma and grandpa's pool and the pool at the hotel in Walla Walla.
Isaac with his cousin Rachel. She was very sweet with him and like his toys.

Isaac eating his first slice of apple. We aren't doing babyfood just food we would eat. So he develops tastes early on and he develops his hand/eye coordination.
We loved the Farmers Market in Walla Walla. We ate fresh squeezed beet, carrot, pear, and ginger juice. We also ate falafel!
Swimming in the hotel pool!
Nakey noo noo in the hotel. Can you tell he loves it!
We went on a little adventure in search of the wheat fields

little bear is 5 months

Ok so this post is a little late as Isaac is only 1 week away from being 6 months old. But I just have to document anyways. We call him little bear...well we call him lots of things. Tootsie (because he toots all the time), babylove, and Peter calls him son. Anyways I have to say month 4 was rough. We had a major sleep regression and we started doing major teething. At the end of 4 months Isaac started sitting up for short periods of time by himself. Also right before he turned 5 months he started to crawl by doing the bear crawl/plank. I was on the phone while he did this and couldn't believe my eyes. Of course he screamed the whole time while doing it because it is hard! He also loves his toes and loves putting them in his mouth. Well actually everything he can possibly grab he puts in his mouth. I think his 5 month picture says it all about he is doing!
